REACHING OUT TO THE PUBLIC AND BUSINESS COMMUNITY

The role of business school is more than just offering education programs in business and management related area. Instead it also has other functions, which include transferring knowledge to the industry and community at large. There is abundance of research projects which have been conducted by the researchers but their findings are not being communicated effectively to the general public especially business community. Most of the research publications are in the forms of scholarly journals that are hardly reachable to the business community. With this in mind, Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB), is taking a bold initiative to introduce an online business magazine called StrictlyBiz as a platform for OYAGSB to reach out to the general public and business community.

OYAGSB is promoting impactful research among its researchers. By impactful research, it means that any research project should have a significant impact on business and community at large. As of now, researchers at OYAGSB had completed a total of 93 projects amounting to RM2.5 millions since 2011. However, the outcomes of these research projects are not being communicated well to the relevant stakeholders among business and general public. As such, StrictlyBiz can be a good platform for our researchers to share the knowledge that they have generated.

"StrictlyBiz can also be seen as a platform to bridge the gap between university, industry and community"

Apart from that, business leaders are also invited to write for StrictlyBiz. They could perhaps share their thoughts on current business scenario in the country, experience and industry knowledge to the public and academic community. In this aspect, StrictlyBiz can also be seen as a platform to bridge the gap between university, industry and community.

I have high hope that this quarterly magazine can achieve its noble objective and receives overwhelming support from all stakeholders. u
